When an employer can turn off the flow of your economic livelihood at any time, you're a dependent - no matter how much they pay you. Being in control of your income is fundamental to your freedom, whether you achieve that control by being an independent contractor, or owning a larger business. But how do freedom and money really interact, and how can we get more of both?
