I grew up in Scotland, living in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.  While I love the scene I spend as much time as possible chasing the sun and appreciating my half-Italian heritage in Tuscany.

My early tech interest began with BBC and Sinclair computers.  I developed these interests later in various integration & infrastructure roles before becoming involved in tech recruitment and management.  Then I move into academia; lecturing and researching in technology, whilst getting involved in the recruitment, marketing, alumni and governance operations of University.  Now I work in developing new technology in the company of people with a shared ambition and passion.

I’ve always loved science & technology, my first degree is in mathematics. Once I decided on my career direction I took an engineering masters in information systems.  After that the tech bond was complete and I continued with a part-time doctorate while I worked in industry and academia.

Research has been challenging and fun, I’ve been lucky enough to work with brilliant people in data technology, artificial intelligence, hypersonics for space technology and fusion.  I enjoy problem solving; visualising the big picture where we can see the whole system and focusing on the cogs and wheels of math and physics to hammer out the engineering hardware or the digital coding.  Creating something new to the world is forging the metal of knowledge from the furnace of imagination.

Everyone has to get out of the lab sometime and I have enjoyed activities that work both body and mind.  I took up fencing at university and was lucky enough to end up representing my country, receiving colours and being included in the first global Olympic Torch relay.  When the climate permits I go climbing or running and when it does not I throw snowballs.
